Digital Sovereignty by Design:
The future of strategic autonomy in the EU and UK
About the DSbD project (2022-2024)
-
The ‘Digital Sovereignty by Design’ project ran from 2022 to 2024, with a purpose of identifying and addressing the impacts that the EU’s move to digital sovereignty presented for the EU and UK’s cybersecurity landscape. It addressed how interaction and competition between stakeholders influence the establishment of regulatory regimes over new technological innovations, or categories of technology. The focus of this project was the microprocessor industry. More info can be found here.
Since the completion of the project, the two lead investigators, Professor Benjamin Farrand and Professor Helena Carrapico, have continued to work on these issues, and are maintaining this website with updates on the intersections between geopolitics and technology governance, with an emphasis on digital sovereignty and strategic autonomy.
